Blind Authors

This directory lists 60 authors who are blind or have low vision, along with selected books by each. It is meant as a resource for aspiring blind authors and as a way to find and reach the writers listed.

This is one of three companion directories, alongside Blind Developers and Blind Presenters, and all three are merged in Blind Creators. A related directory, Blind Books, turns this one around: it lists every qualifying book by these authors, each with its category, formats, and year, plus statistics on the whole collection.

An author is included here when every one of the following is true:

Up to three books are shown per author, newest first, each with its year where known, while Blind Books shows them all. A poetry title must be a substantial, sole-authored collection rather than a few poems posted online. Each entry ends with a “Profiles:” line — the author’s website, Amazon or National Braille Press page, LinkedIn, or Wikipedia, listed alphabetically by label — and, where one could be verified, a link to an accessible edition at the National Library Service (NLS) or Bookshare.

Authors are listed alphabetically by last name, with the books grouped by kind in an appendix.

This directory is English-language in scope: it relies on books and sources that can be read and verified in English. Blind authors writing in other languages are not represented here.
